The Best AV Solution?

Despite vendor's claims and media hype, there is no single "best" antivirus solution. All antivirus software has its strengths and weaknesses. Some are better at detection, but poorer at repairing damaged files. Nobody has a prefect track record. When choosing an antivirus solution, weigh in factors such as vendor support and response rate, frequency and reliability of updates, software compatibility, license terms, etc.,

A smart alternative is to use two antivirus vendors for different tasks. For example, we use Trend Micro on our servers (including mail servers), and another (AVG) on our workstations and laptop. If one layer fails to intercept a virus, the other layer usually will. (And yes, some code occasionally makes it through one of the layers.) Sure it's a bit of a hassle updating different vendor solutions, but we get bombarded by so many trojans, worms, and other viruses every day, we don't want to risk ruining our reputation by propagating a virus to our clients and visitors. I'm betting your company can't afford to either.
